The much anticipated entries for this years Sodbury Slog are now open on Race-Nation
The course has a slightly changed, we will no longer be doing the “leap of faith “ but turning right at the bottom of the Roman Fort. We will also not be returning up Chipping Sodbury High street but instead taking a slight detour and introducing the “sting”.
Details of the 2024 entries will be coming soon.
Race numbers will be posted out (to the address you entered on Race Nation) towards the end of the October. They will be posted out in batches so please don’t worry if your friends have received theirs and you haven’t.
If you have ordered some Scimitar Merchandise, it will be dispatched soon.
The store will be re-opening after the race.
To reduce waste and cost, the race t-shirts are an optional extras. The 2023 shirt will still be made from recycled material, still offered in male and female styles, and with a new design for this year. Those who would like a shirt will again be able to order one from our online store.
As well as t-shirts we will also be selling Sodbury Slog merchandise hoodies, branded with the event logo. All items ordered will be collated and produced for delivery direct to the customer prior to the event in November.
This year’s Sodbury Slog will be held on 12rd Novemeber. News coming soon as to when entries will be open.
In November 2021, the Sodbury Slog team presented the Forest of Avon Trust with a cheque for £1,300 to support the planting of trees in the local area. Since then, the trust have been busy working with a local landowner to create a small woodland near the Sodbury Slog run route.
In March 2022, 250 native trees and shrubs including Oak, Lime, Hornbeam, Alder and Hazel were planted at the site with the help of the brilliant wardens and volunteers from Cotswold Voluntary Wardens and Sodbury Woodland & Nature, funded through Sodbury Slogs donation and Trees for Climate.
Situated in the parish of Sodbury alongside Mill Lane, the River Frome runs along the west/ southwest side of the planting site, which can be seen from the Cotswold Way public footpath.
The site links to the River Frome wildlife corridor and continues to a community woodland and orchard, where 4,500 trees were also planted last winter. The area is recognised as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (S.N.C.I.), with rabbits and roe deer frequently seen hopping about their local patch!
The trust have extended a huge thank you to the Sodbury Slog team for their generosity, and to the landowner, the wonderful wardens and volunteers for their valued help.

The Sodbury Slog will be continuing to support the Forest of Avon Trust with the 2022 event to fund the planting of more trees in the local area.
After a review of prizes handed out over the previous few years, we have this year decided to revisit prize amounts and award categories.
Our new prize structure for 2022 will still cover the same ages ranges as before – from Senior up to Vet 70+, but we are now making first, second, and third place open to any age category and thanks to our new lead sponsor, Charles Saunders who are generously funding prizes this year, we have also increased the prize money award to each of these top positions.
Under the new structure, first place will be awarded £100 in cash and a bottle of bubbly, second place will be awarded £75 in cash and a bottle of bubbly, and third place will be awarded £50 in cash and a bottle of bubbly. Needless to say these prizes will be the same for both male and female categories.
All winners of the age-related categories for each sex – from Senior right through to Vet 70+ will each receive a bottle of bubbly. Categories are Senior; V40; V50; V60; V70+. Full details can be found in the race terms and conditions.
There will also be a single club prize, which will consist of the first four finishers of any single club (as registered at entry), from any category in which each of the four team winners will receive a bottle of bubbly.
There will be a maximum number of one prize per person, with the exception of the club prize.

No he’s not looking for his mobile, but if you do run with your phone to take photos then that could be you – looking for it when you drop it in the mud. Good luck finding it in there. That’s why this year we have decided to make our race photography free for all entrants.
As with previous years we are working with 21C Photos, who will have two experienced Slog photographers out around the course at various locations, taking as many photos as their fingers can press.
But the difference this year, rather than you having to stump up your hard-earned cash to then buy those photos, we’ve arranged with them to give them to you for free. You will be able to download and share on social media however many you like.
Following the event, all the photos will be processed and hosted online for you to browse and search, and you will be able to download your favourite mud shots to keep forever, meaning your shiny new phone can stay well away from the mud. You’re welcome.
