Please check all personal details VERY CAREFULLY and let us know immediately by email, ONLY if there are any errors. You may be disqualified if you fail to notify us of an incorrect gender or category classification prior to running. You do not need to do anything if your details are correct. If there are any issues with your information, please email us HERE.
Your race bib with incorporated timing chip, will be sent to you in your race pack. If you have not received your race pack by Monday 7th November, please let us know by replying HERE – please do not email prior to this date.
The admin desk for this race closes at 2pm on Thursday 10th November. If you have not reported a missing race pack by this time, you will need to collect an emergency pack on race day morning.
Pre-Race
The Race HQ is located at Chipping Sodbury Sports Centre (BS37 6EW). You are welcome to arrive from 09:00, with bag drop opening in the sports hall at 09:30. There will be no changing facilities available at the sport centre.
Refreshments, including tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes, and hot bacon rolls will be served at Race HQ by the school PTA. Please bring cash or card to pay for refreshments.
If you have ordered a race t-shirt, then this will be posted out to you in advance of the race. No t-shirts will be available or handed out on the day. No t-shirt swap facility will be available.
Parking
Parking is available at Race HQ (BS37 6EW) and opens at 09:00 but will close when full. Additional parking is available in the free town car park adjacent to Waitrose (BS37 6AU) as well as in the long-stay section of Waitrose, where parking restrictions will be removed for the race. Do not park in the short stay area of the Waitrose car park as restrictions will apply. The Race HQ is a ten-minute walk from these car parks.
If you do park elsewhere, please do so legally and considerately and do not block pavements or driveways. Also bear in mind walking time to the Race HQ when parking elsewhere. Note that Chipping Sodbury High Street will be closed to traffic between 11:00 and 16:00. Do not park in the High Street if you need to be away before 16:00.
Course
For your safety this year we have contracted Go Traffic Management (GTM) to manage all road closures from the start of the race to the common. With more road closures in-place you will notice a few minor changes to previous years, so please follow the directions of GTM crew and any other marshals on the route.
As usual, much of the race route runs over private land, a lot of which is working farmland. As such we only have permission to run the marked-out and marshalled route. Due to what is currently happening on the farms, there are some small changes to the route this year. Do not divert away from any marked-out route and always follow all marshal guidance. This is both for consideration of the landowner and for your own safety.
We are very excited to say that for the first time in over five years the route is also returning to run through the grounds of Little Sodbury Manor. As you would expect with allowing 1300 people to run through the grounds of a grade one listed 15th Century manor house, we need everyone to be very considerate and mindful of a few things that we have been asked by the owners.
Firstly, please stick to the marshalled agreed route. There are some sections of freshly seeded grass that will be taped off, please stay away from this, and stick to the driveway.
Secondly the route runs very close to the property so please don’t loiter as you’re passing close by the house. The owners will be at home on race day and while they are very supportive of the event, there are limits we need to respect. Please do not stop and take any photographs or video of the house or grounds. Keep moving, take in the stunning views, and simply enjoy it.
Finally, and importantly, please be mindful to not drop any litter. Obviously, you shouldn’t be dropping litter anywhere on the course anyway, but please definitely not here. Your behaviour will determine whether we will be welcome again next year.
Post Race
At the finish there will be water, bananas, Hobbs House Hiker Bars, and a selection of crisps for your refreshment. Race medals will be available for all finishers.
Prize-giving for category and team prizes will be presented at 13:15. Prizes will be awarded for 1st; 2nd; 3rd male and female, 1st place for each age category covering senior; vet 40 / 50 / 60 / 70+, and a single club prize. A maximum of one prize per person applies, with the exception of the club prize.
Note there will be no changing or shower facilities at the Race HQ. As usual there will be hosepipes available for you to wash off the worst of the mud after the race.
Race Photography
21CPhotos.com will be out at various locations on the course and at the finish taking professional race photos. For the first time this year all images will be available for you to download for free from their website the day after the race, with a link available from the Sodbury Slog website, the Bitton Road Runners website, and social media channels.
